A ‘pencil’ of the scion wood, variety Queen Cox in this case, is used from storage, these need to be cut while the wood is winter-dormant eg February to early March, and stored cool and not too dry. This short video show an open centred bush tree which has been well pruned to space the fruit buds evenly through the space occupied by the overall volume of the tree. This was taken on 15th March, once the buds ‘burst’ the next stage is pink bud, then blossom which shoudl be in about 4 weeks depending on weather.
